    NIE Networks emergency crews have worked throughout the night to reduce the number of homes and businesses without electricity due to Storm Ali to 9,500.

    A helicopters is being brought over from GB this morning to survey harder to reach parts of the electricity network and support efforts to restore the 9,500 customers who are without power. Following the extreme gusts of Storm Ali yesterday, NIE Networks has restored electricity supplies to over 80,000 homes and businesses.

    A helicopter is currently monitoring the electricity network in the East of Northern Ireland as restoration efforts continue to reconnect the remaining 9,000 customers without electricity following Storm Ali.

    NIE Networks has confirmed that it is currently dealing with around a thousand individual faults on the electricity network. Emergency teams have restored power to over 90,000 customers over the last 24 hours.

    Power supplies have been restored to over 61,000 customers following damaging gusts from Storm Ali. Emergency crews continue to work on repairs to power cuts affecting around 32,000 homes and businesses.

    At 13:45 around 55,000 customers are without electricity across Northern Ireland with power now restored to 36,000 customers. The number of customers affected by power cuts may rise as strong winds gusting well in excess of 70 mph continue to cause damage to the electricity network.
     
    Currently we are experiencing the strongest winds moving along the North coast.
