Social Media Guidelines

Before using Northern Ireland Electricity Networks' (NIE Networks') social media channels, please read our guidelines.

We reserve the right to remove and block posts and report, without notification, users who:

  • bully, harass or intimidate any individual or organisation
  • are unlawful, libellous, defamatory, abusive, threatening, harmful, obscene, profane, sexually oriented or racially offensive
  • infringe or violate someone else's rights
  • violate the law
  • discuss ongoing legal proceedings
  • are spam
  • advertise products or services
  • are irrelevant or off-topic
  • are disruptive
  • are repetitive.

We will also block, remove or ban any user who:

  • continues to post comments such as those listed above
  • encourages others to post such comments
  • uses offensive images as their profile picture
  • has an offensive user name.

NIE Networks' Facebook & Twitter page is monitored 9am – 6.00pm. In addition to our Twitter &Facebook service, you can contact us here.

If you are reporting a power cut, you can report your power cut online or call our customer helpline on 03457 643 643. If your enquiry relates to your electricity bill contact your electricity supplier.
