Use this simple method to know if the jib / excavator combination is safe for you to use

Always check to ensure;

  1. The Excavator/Quick Hitch combination has a valid annual thorough examination certificate.
  2. The Jib extension has a valid six-month thorough examination certificate.
  3. A Load Test certificate is available for the Excavator and Jib extension combination you are about to use, and that its rated capacity (SWL/WLL) is clearly stated. (Note: The SWL/WLL stated on the Load Test certificate may be lesser than that stated on the jib extension manufacturer fitted rating plate)
  4. The weight of the pole mounted apparatus you are planning to lift to ensure that it is within the rated capacity of the Excavator/Jib combination.

Remember to identify and maintain your escape route(s). Don’t work under the load and until the load is landed, stay to the back of the pole.
