Top Tips for keeping for keeping fish safe during a power cut:
- Prepare Backup Power: Keep a battery-operated air pump, heater, or generator ready.
- Insulate the Tank: Wrap in blankets and use hot water bottles to retain heat. Cover the top to trap warmth.
- Aerate Water: Use a jug or bicycle pump every hour to move the water and maintain oxygen levels.
- Limit Feeding: Reduce or skip feeding to minimise waste.
- Monitor Temperature: Use ice packs or heating pads as needed to stabilise water temperature.
