We will be updating underground cables in the Strabane area in the next year – this will strengthen the network and add more electricity capacity, it will take place prior to the public realm scheme due to be carried out by Derry City and Strabane District Council.
The works will involve the replacement of approximately 2,500 metres of underground cable in the Railway Street, Abercorn Square, Market Street, Castle Street, Castle Place and Main Street areas of Strabane. This cable replacement in your area represents a considerable investment by NIE Networks.
These works will commence June 2025 and will last for up to twelve months. The works will have no direct impact on your electricity supply initially but when any planned interruptions are due you will be notified accordingly, in advance of any planned interruptions taking place.
During the course of this work it is essential we have clear access to the specific roadway and footpaths where we are working to facilitate the use of machinery and personnel. Signage will be placed to indicate which streets are being worked on and alternative routes around town. This signage will be relocated as the works progress.
