At NIE Networks our Sustainability Action Plan aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and industry specific European Association for DSOs (E.DSO) Sustainable Grid Charter. Implementing the NIE Networks Sustainability Action Plan will be essential in helping the company play its part in meeting a net zero carbon future as well as increasing the company’s corporate social responsibility, productivity and reducing waste. Under the Sustainability Action Plan, NIE Networks will reduce its building and fleet emissions by 50% by 2030, compared to the company’s 2019 levels.

Our dedicated Sustainability Manager is responsible for developing the strategy and action plan to deliver against the company’s own carbon reduction targets.

NIE Networks is a committed partner in the global effort to achieve net zero carbon. We are members of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change “Race to Zero” campaign, which is a global campaign to rally support from businesses, cities, regions and investors for a zero-carbon recovery worldwide. It mobilises a coalition of leading net zero initiatives, representing 733 cities, 31 regions, 3,067 businesses, 173 of the biggest investors, and 622 higher education institutions.
