    Over 21,000 homes and businesses have been restored to power and NIE Networks emergency crews are currently repairing the damage  caused by Storm Hector. Around 2000 customers remain without electricity with Craigavon being the worst affected area. Severe winds, the highest recorded speeds in June since 1962, swept across Northern Ireland during the night, bringing down trees and branches across power lines and breaking poles.

    NIE Networks emergency crews have restored power to the majority of customers affected by Storm Hector which brought high winds and gusts of over 70mph to Northern Ireland last night.  Over 300 incidences of weather related damage to the network disrupted electricity supplies as the storm brought down powerlines.

    Over 18,000 customers have had power restored following the damaging gusts of Storm Hector last night. NIE Networks crews have been working late into the evening and from early morning. At present around 7,000 customers remain without electricity mainly in the Craigavon, Newry, Omagh, Campsie and North Down areas.
