    NIE Networks emergency crews and engineers will continue working into the night to restore power to around 1200 customers still without power following Storm Ophelia.  Over 52,000 customers have had electricity restored following a Northern Ireland wide effort to repair the damage to the electricity network.

    NIE Networks emergency crews have restored power to the majority of customers affected by Storm Ophelia.  Over 400 incidences of weather related damage to the network are disrupting electricity supplies to around 4000 homes and businesses, mainly in Counties Down, Armagh and Antrim.

    Approximately 10,500 customers are without electricity across Northern Ireland with power supplies restored to 41,000 customers throughout the day. Southern and Eastern areas have been worst affected and customers in these areas should be prepared to be without power overnight.

    Approximately 15,000 customers are without electricity across Northern Ireland with power supplies restored to 33,000 customers. Southern and Eastern areas have been worst affected and customers in these areas should be prepared to be without power overnight.

    At 19:45 around 21,000 customers are without electricity across Northern Ireland with power now restored to 24,000 customers. The number of customers affected by power cuts is still expected to rise as strong winds gusting to 60-70 mph continue to sweep across the country and in particular the Antrim and Down coasts.

    Approximately 18,500 customers are now without electricity across all parts of Northern Ireland with power restored to 20,000 customers since Storm Ophelia’s arrival. However, NIE Networks still expects the number of customers affected by power cuts to rise as strong winds with gusts of 60-70 mph expected especially on the Antrim and Down coasts.

    Winds continue to cause damage to the electricity network with trees, branches and other flying debris bringing down power lines and poles.

    Presently around 18,000 customers are without electricity across all parts of Northern Ireland. Winds of 55-65 mph are causing damage to the electricity network with trees, branches and other flying debris bringing down power lines and poles which now need to be repaired or replaced.

    At present approximately 1,000 customers are without electricity across Northern Ireland. NIE Networks expects this number to rise as Storm Opheila makes its way across the country.
