Meter readingA member of the NIE team reading an outdoor credit meter

At Northern Ireland Electricity Networks (NIE Networks), we read everyone’s electricity meter every three months.

We pass these readings on to your electricity supplier and they send you a bill. If you are a pay-as-you-go customer, this information is used to update your account.

Some electricity suppliers will ask you to submit meter readings in between our visits. You can either do this directly with them or with us. We will still call at your home or business even if you do give regular readings to your supplier.

Submit a meter reading

Missed our meter reader? Don’t worry, you can avoid an estimate by providing us with your own reading.

Keypad meters

At NIE Networks, we now need to read all meters in Northern Ireland even if you have a pre-pay meter and pay your electricity as you go.

ID check

Stay safe and make sure you're not caught out by bogus callers. Always check who’s calling at your door.
