The future of our network

Engineer analysing electricity networkThe electricity network is the infrastructure that allows us to transport power from where it is generated to where it is used.

It consists of a transmission network that moves electricity over long distances at high voltages and distribution networks that transports electricity at lower voltages to supply electricity to homes and businesses.

Our network is changing for the future. We are renewing older parts of the network, integrating new technologies and responding to the challenges of renewable energy.

Discover more about this new era of electricity and how our network is changing.  Learn about electric cars and how the introduction of new technologies will allow us all to be ‘smarter’ with our energy consumption for the future.
