At NIE Networks we are committed to engaging with 16-18 year olds to help plug the skills gap evident within the area of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths). It is becoming increasingly apparent that the few that study STEM subjects for GCSE or A Level do not choose to pursue a career in this area. This is well documented with women who consistently obtain higher grades in STEM subjects when compared to men. However opt to choose a different career pathway.

Our goal is to improve young people’s perceptions of studying STEM subjects and help increase the number of young people choosing science and engineering as a career.
