SMART Energy Project

The SMART energy project encourages primary students at schools across Northern Ireland to explore renewable energy sources.

Organised by the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) and Sentinus, students investigate energy sources and usage in a series of activity sessions and conduct experiments based around their schools.

Building on these experiences, students develop ideas of what their Smart Energy school might look like, incorporating existing and potential technologies and present their concepts to the school management team.

The programme concludes with a celebration day at Sentinus Young Innovators where schools will present their school of tomorrow.

Schools are supported by trained STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths) ambassadors from NIE Networks and other companies. Each school is supplied with a kit of materials to undertake the activities.
