Safety clearances

At this early stage of your project, NIE Networks would draw your attention to the considerable danger associated with working in the vicinity of electrical equipment, whether underground or overhead, and the greatest care must be exercised not to come or to bring materials, equipment, appliances or tools too close, otherwise workers and indeed other persons not directly concerned may be involved in a very grave risk, which might lead to a serious or even fatal accident.

Site safety should be in accordance with HSE [opens in a new window] Guidance Note GS6 (Avoidance of Danger from Overhead Electric Lines) and HSE Booklet HS(G)47 (Avoiding Danger from Underground Services). Further information can be found in the safety section of our website.
