NIE welcomes Ballymena Council visit

Ballymena Councillors visited Northern Ireland Electricity’s (NIE) Control Centre last week to understand how the company deals with power cuts.

During the visit Councillors Beth Clyde, Monica Digney, Paul Maguire, Billy Henry and Audrey Wales saw NIE’s call centre and the automated telephone systems that are in place to deal with large numbers of calls.

Specialised dispatch analysts and control engineers also talked them through how engineers are mobilised and some of the automatic controls that can be used on the electricity network.

Natasha McGee, NIE Customer Relations Manager for the Ballymena area, welcomed the Council visit saying, “During power cuts elected representatives help us to distribute information to constituents so it is important that they fully understand how we work.”
