Statement on Generation Applications- effective from Wednesday 19th August 2015

This statement follows on from NIE Networks' recent policy change statement (issued on 12th August 2015) where, from 30 July 2015, evidence of planning permission is no longer required as part of a grid connection application for generation connections.

Following further review of the application process itself, NIE Networks wishes to confirm that, effective from Wednesday 19 August, all new applications for large scale generation and small scale generation must be received in hard copy and accompanied by a cheque payment for the relevant application fee.

All applications should be posted or hand delivered to:

Central Processing and Registration
NIE Networks
57 Dargan Road
Belfast
BT3 9JU

NIE Networks considers that this provides the most transparent and consistent approach to deal with the current situation, and we will continue on this basis, albeit subject to ongoing review.

For the avoidance of doubt, please note that the facility to pay application fees via electronic methods will no longer be accepted from 19 August 2015 onwards. Emailed applications will also no longer be accepted from this date.

Please note this change of process does not impact the arrangements for paying deposits or final balance requests and electronic payments can still be used for this part of the process.
