What is a dual offer?

A dual offer is a quotation for your connection works with two options. You will only receive a dual offer for new connections and increased supplies where a new connection is required. When accepting your offer you will select one of these two options:

Option 1 and Option 2

  1. Option 1: NIE Networks complete the full connection works
If you accept option 1, NIE Networks will carry out all of the connection works required for your connection. This includes both contestable works and non-contestable works
  2. Option 2: NIE Networks complete the non-contestable works only
If you accept option 2, NIE Networks will only carry out the non-contestable works associated with your connection. You must appoint and pay for an ICP to manage the delivery of the contestable elements of your connection (the contestable works). NIE Networks will work with your chosen ICP to agree schedules for the completion of the non-contestable works and to carry out inspections of the contestable works.

In your Quotation Summary, you will receive a list of connection works relating to your connection for option 1 and option 2 which is included with your dual offer. The connection works listed for option 2 will be split into contestable works and non-contestable works. The costs for the works listed in your Quotation Summary are exclusive of VAT and may change if we need to re-quote your job.

Accepting your offer - what do you need to do?

Both options in your dual offer are valid for 90 days from the offer's date of issue. Your dual offer will contain a number of documents including your Terms Letters, Acceptance of Terms, Technical Terms and General Terms for Connection Works.

Note: please ensure that you read all of these documents before accepting your connection offer.

What happens next?

The process for your connection will depend on whether you select option 1 or option 2 in your dual offer. You can view the process maps for domestic connections here. If you are applying for a different type of connection please visit the connections homepage and select the connection relevant to you. The process map for both options can be viewed by selecting How the Connection Process Works

Note:

Whether you select option 1 or option 2 in your dual offer, NIE Networks will always be involved in the connection process. You must submit your initial application for a connection to the distribution network to us as we must complete the non-contestable elements of your connection.
